This is going to be a short one. My mom broke her foot while walking the dog and now that I’m back from my trip I have entered the rotation to help her when my brother or my sister can’t. I almost didn’t travel last week, as she slipped and fell the day I had to leave to the airport. I can’t complain, because as long as there’s a table, there’s a way I can keep working.
Silent Tales
This Tuesday, Gustavo Duarte’s new book, DC’s Silent Tales, comes out, and Bá and I did a variant cover for it. I mentioned doing this cover earlier this year, and one of the best things about it was the chance to draw Lobo. We both loved Lobo when the character appeared, as does Gustavo, as does every young artist reading comics in the early 90s. Back at C2E2, Skottie Young and I were talking about our mutual love and admiration for the very crazy Lobo: Infanticide mini-series. I had talked to Jeff Lemire in Richmond about Keith Giffen’s art (Giffen was also in Richmond and talked a lot with Jeff), specially the loose and expressive Lobo/Trencher era.
Anyway…
The Book collects all silent short stories Gustavo published online, and I already signed a copy at the Graham Crackers comic book store in Normal, Illinois during my signing on Sunday.
Quick Notes
I wonder if people discover new features of this substack on their own, or if they need some directions. Substack Notes is the new feature I’m referring, and it looks like an version of twitter inside the substack environment. I posted my first note just before going to the airport for my trip last week.

Like I said, this will be a quick one. I mostly wrote it to make sure Gustavo’s book wouldn’t pass unnoticed.
Take care of each other.
Be safe. Be kind. Be curious.
