Rainbow
What will you find if you follow it?
I sent this colored sketch to my editors. It was one of my cover ideas, and I knew it would be hard to explain, even in an elaborate email, if I didn’t put the extra effort to color the sketch.
So I did.
All the Archie characters are iconic after all these 85 years that I wanted to enhance that aspect, to show that they’re recognizable even if you don’t draw their faces. The color stripes came out of this attempt to give the cover a sense of movement and energy.
It was my editor’s idea to put the freckles on the silhouetted Archie. It was a nice touch.
Once more artwork has been revealed online, I’ll try to write a more detailed step-by-step account of the making of this cover. Right now, I have to focus on drawing more pages.

Ngl, the freckles reminded me of The Corinthian from Sandman. I thought the direction is towards a creepy silhouette, my bad. I didn't realize those were freckles until you pointed it out. Haha.
