I picked up the guitar on Sunday, after sunset, and started trying to learn a song she wanted me to play. It was a very hot evening and I took off my t-shirt. It’s been years since I played anything with any regularity, and the tip of the fingers of my left hand are sore after just a few minutes (despite being left handed, I play guitar right handed because my right handed twin brother learned guitar at the same time).
“I need these fingers to be precise while I hold my brush”, I remember thinking.
I saw my niece today, just after her guitar lessons, and I told her I was trying to learn a song yesterday.
“Do you play guitar, uncle?”, she asks.
“I used to. Badly.”
“Why were you bad?”
“I didn’t practice.”
“Why?”
“Because I was drawing instead.”
I guess I was practicing something at that time after all, something I try to keep practicing to this day.
Be safe. Be kind. Be curious.

Practicing is hard. I am a longtime guitarist, and I still don't do it every day. But better to do it regularly for a brief time than to go for a marathon you can't finish.
Não há tempo suficiente para todas as nossas paixões. Para mim é piano, desenho, e trabalho.
