STAYING IN
I didn’t think I would be writing a new letter this week, with all the work I need to focus on, and with all the personal stuff I have been having to deal with, but I just heard an interesting episode of “Portrait of an Editor” about a Will Dennis panel he will be hosting during NYCC:
Will's panel: HOW (NOT) TO SUCCEED IN COMICS (Without Really Trying!)
Friday 10/7/22 6:30 to 7:30:00
Industry 1-C03
Speakers: Will Dennis, Scott Snyder, Cliff Chiang, Stephanie Phillips, Brian Azzarello, and Pornsak Pichetshote
One thing Will mentioned at this episode is that one of the most interesting things to discuss at this panel is not how to get into the business, is how to stay in the business.
Will is a very down to Earth editor, and the list of authors in the panel makes me know it will be a very interesting hour to kick in that Friday night in NY.
(no, I’m not going to NYCC this year)
DANCE WITH ME
I miss dancing. I wrote and drew a short story for the FLIGHT anthology many years ago about ballroom dancing in which I make the point that dancing is a conversation between bodies, and as a artist who sometimes has to learn how to “talk” to the readers without using words, I was fascinated by that “bodily exchange”.
The drawing I made on Saturday, shown above, will probably be my only inktober entry this month. I hope some of you have more time to have fun drawing all sorts of stuff in October.
NEW PAGES PUBLISHED AT LAST!
I know I have talked about this before, and I might talk about this again in November, but I’m just excited that something new I wrote or drew is coming out.
