Hit and Miss
as often as you can.
I wrote in my last letter a little about how time is my most valued currency, and I spent last week thinking about how I can make better use of my time these days. My brother had some suggestions, and we talked a lot about what we currently do during all the time we spend working and all the things we used to manage in the past, and how did we accomplished so much back then: besides the fact that we used to work 10 to 14 hours every day, our routine was different, our worries were different.
I try to write these letter on Monday mornings with some goals in mind: reflect on whatever I have seen, read or talked about that relates with making comics, and if possible how does all that influences my own approach to telling stories. Like reading “Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees”, by Patrick Horvath, and spending one or two coffee breaks afterwards talking with Bá about making a book where we can do everything: story, art, color and letters (which sounds very natural depending on what type of comics you do, but which have not been the case in our own production because of the monthly-oriented corner of the american market we have been involved with for most of our own careers).
Be safe, be kind, be curious.
