I’m on my coffee break on this Monday, and I’m thinking about the future. The future still is up to us. It’s not a given, it’s not guaranteed, and it’s not a sea of roses. Still, there it is, this future full of possibilities, looking back at us, waving friendly.
Last year, among the chaos and the uncertainties, I was having problems thinking about the future. I was too worried about the present, every day, and I barely made plans a week ahead of time. Now, even if the pandemic isn’t over and Brazil is still ruled by a psychopath, I catch myself not only thinking about the future, but making plans.
Being capable of planning ahead has always been one of the most important parts of being a cartoonist, and it’s good to realize this part of me was only dormant, not lost.
This is my last letter of the year. I’ll be taking some time offline to focus on the “real life”. Let’s try to make the most of this new year, beginning at the end of this one. Why wait?
Let’s hope in 2022 I’ll bump into some of you in real life. We can share stories, a cup of coffee, and a smile.
Be safe. Be kind. Be curious.
Pa-ZOW!
