Four pages of thumbnails.
A start.
I’m not sure yet where this is going, and I’m debating whether or not I should start drawing pages before I know how this is going to end.
I want this to be a short story. If it gets bigger, maybe a series of short stories, but nothing too bold and epic, which has been one of the internal fights I’ve been having as I want to keep pushing the language of comics further, to deeper grounds, and I believe we need space (many, many pages) to accomplish that, but this story isn’t about that. It’s smaller, intimate, emotional and shouldn’t grow too much. After spending years trying to create longer projects, it has been hard trying to make a smaller one.
Especially also having a big and ambitious project currently in production.
I sometimes wonder if I’ll find (or create) a project where I can mix different techniques and tools in the pages as I sometimes do on my sketchbook. And every time I think about it, I think about getting more people to read my stories, and in the Brazilian economic reality it always makes more sense to me to do a cheaper black and white comic than an expensive colored one.
It’s been a while since I’ve done a black and white comic. Bá drew our last one (Two Brothers), so it feels even longer for me personally.
It might be time.

Election in Brazil this Sunday. It’s a big one.
Let’s hope peace, love, empathy and democracy wins over hatred, violence and authoritarianism.
Be safe. Be kind. Be curious.
Pa-ZOW!

Você falando sobre misturar técnicas, me veio a mente o The Art of Charlie Chan Hock Chye do Sonny Liew... Sei lá, vai que, né?
Bora 13 nesse domingo! Aquele abraço!
