Egg Man
I eat an egg on my breakfast every morning. And sometimes they show up on my sketches and on my pages.
Somebody noticed it and gave me a new egg holder as a gift.
I am the egg man.
I don’t smoke. But I like to draw hands, because they carry a lot of movement and personality.
Hands holding a cigarette, a cigar, a glass of wine or a pint of beer, anything, really, are very telling of the person they belong to.
Smoke, likewise, has so much expressive potential. You can work with different tools, with a little more texture, and try to capture movement rather than define a clear shape.

In the latest podcast interview I found with Matt Fraction (in this case, the Sifu Mimi Chan podcast), I’m reminded how unique Matt’s thought process is, and how his always working brain weaves his memories of taking care of his kids during the pandemic the same way he connects the dots on a complicated plot on Casanova. Listen to it here.
Sérgio Aragonés is an inspiration to a lot of artists, myself included. His work on Mad magazine, and later on Groo, carried so many similarities with the independent comics of the 80s being made in Brazil, in terms of the humor and the cartoonish look of the art, that I couldn’t help but feel represented in his work and in the possibilities of being an international artist making comics around the World. Recently, he was interviewed by the Cartoonist Kayfabe crew, and I’m can’t wait to hear this interview sometime this week. Here’s the link.
