A lot on my mind this week, having made progress on the new script, and having thought about some other projects besides the big story. The World keeps turning upside down, and as I struggle to remain positive and active, I always turn back to fiction to try and make sense of reality (not always succeeding).
I finished watching the latest season of The Bear, and I told Bá he should watch it just so we can talk about the parallels of the chef’s life to that of a comic book author. I told another friend of how much the emotional charge of most of this season’s episodes was heighten by the R.E.M soundtrack.
Our Flag Means Death is also back, finally. Let’s all sail to gentler seas.
Translating poetry is hard, and I’m no good at it, but here’s what it says on the strip above:
longing for the sea
longing to love
I love your salty kiss
I love your wet body
you’re the wave that rock my heart
We can always do better. Be grateful for what you have, what you’ve achieved, what you’ve learned, but remember that we can always grow and do better. Be better. The World can definitely do better, and I wish everybody would think if they’re doing their part.
Remember: we must be patient to achieve most of our dreams, but we can be better, kinder versions of ourselves right now.
Be safe. Be kind. Be curious.

I felt the same way after watching the Bear season 2. It did such a great job of capturing the drive to create and the toll it can take trying to achieve perfection. But, at the end, the satisfaction of creating and connecting with others that appreciate your creations.
